Life Update & IECSC Haul

Hello!!!

It’s been ages, I know. I’m sorry! As always, my life has been super busy lately despite me getting nothing of substance done – I went back to school on weekends while still working full-time during the week, so pretty much everything fun in my life has been put on the back burner ): So I haven’t really had much to blog about, and though I do have tons of drafts sitting in my Evernote (I like to type them up during my commute, it gives me strength haha), since my job involves staring at the computer for seven and a half hours a day, it’s hard to find the motivation to open Photoshop when I’m at home. But I definitely miss posting, and am trying to carve out some time to work on this blog some more! I just don’t want to post once and then disappear for three years x: so I’d rather be inactive for a while and get myself together.

So last year I decided to become a licensed esthetician – skin care/makeup of course are major interests in my life to the point that I don’t really talk about anything else hahaha. Classes started in January, and since I’m only going part-time, I’m in class all day on weekends and won’t be graduating/ready to take the licensing exam until November .——–. But I love it so far! My teacher is amazing and the class is small enough that everyone gets a little individual attention, and my classmates are all super chill. It sucks dealing with weekend public transportation schedules (the subway line I take is notorious for breaking down and being slow and not even announcing it) and waking up at 6am all the time, but it’s worth it.

And a huge perk of being “in” the beauty industry is access to trade shows, like the International Esthetics, Cosmetics, and Spa Conference that took place last week! Being able to see all the latest products and machines in action, especially as a student, made me really excited about the future. Oh and then I bought stuff :B

Brunch and Killer Heels in Brooklyn!

Last week Yaling and I went with another friend down to the Brooklyn Museum to see the Killer Heels exhibit! Since Brooklyn is kind of inconvenient for us, we decided to eat there as well since we don’t often get the chance to check out their restaurants.

And of course the place we originally picked was closed that day -______- Thankfully we had a list of nearby backups and got to Elberta about ten minutes later. We ended up leaving our homes an hour later than our original plans (the three of us are not known for our punctuality haha), and we were SO HUNGRY.

Unboxing Memebox #65 – Apple Mojito Box

I have been working on a bunch of other posts, but they’re all pretty image-heavy and I am lazy haven’t finished them yet .___. But here’s a quick unboxing post! I love mojitos and I love apples and I’ve never found a place that makes apple mojitos, but if you know of one you should probably tell me because I’m sure I’d love it. So I couldn’t resist this box!

How to Shape Side-Swept Bangs/Fringe – Without Heat!

When I got my hair cut last month, I went from bangs that went straight across my forehead to side-swept ones. I had tried to style them that way myself, before I got them trimmed, but the hair would always flop back into its original position. My stylist showed me an awesome, no-heat way to keep them in place, and it changed my life so I had to share!

Testerkorea Haul/Review

I discovered Testerkorea when I found out about Etude House’s Princess Makeup Table, and decided I needed it. (like, really. My stuff at my boyfriend’s place was kind of spread all over the top of the dresser and it was really annoying him)

I did a quick bit of research on the site, and it didn’t seem like a scam tongue So I bought the table (which seems to have since sold out :(), as well as a few other things because I deserve it okay.

First, mah stuffs:

Black Phoenix Trading Post Hair Gloss Review

I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for this long (i.e. more than three hours) without mentioning my love for Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab (BPAL) perfume oils. I’ve been collecting them since 2009, but focusing on them never left me enough discretionary cash for their sister site, Black Phoenix Trading Post. But during their Halloween update last year, I finally got to try one of their hair glosses and absolutely loved it. I was really excited to get more, as they had some exclusive scents for New York Comic Con, but I was working there as a crew member and unfortunately when I was finally free to explore the con off-duty, both of them had already sold out. I may or may not have outwardly cried. For hours. ahem. But here is the one I bought last year, Lightning Storm!

Vivid flashes of dazzling electricity: white mint, white tea, white ginger, a jolt of yuzu, and electric green lime!

Haircut!

These past few days, I’ve been an ADULT and did GROWN-UP THINGS like start a retirement investment fund and go to the opthalmologist wtf who am i. Anyway since I was spending all this money on bettering myself, I also decided to get my hair cut and recolored – I grew my bangs out and failed at trimming them so I stopped doing anything to my hair and just shoved bobby pins into it and hoped it would go away (I’m a Leo, I only know how to either go all out or do nothing at all) (also conclusive evidence of my adulthood).
